When you visit or register on the Site you may be asked to provide certain information about yourself including your name, address, email address, telephone number, gender, role sought, interests and availability. We may also collect information about your usage of our Site, as well as information about you from e-mails you send in enquiry of properties advertised on our Site.

Our goal is to provide our users with a personalized experience every time they log onto Star and to that end we may direct you to articles/forums etc. that we think may assist you in your property search. By providing us with such information, you are thereby consenting to the use of that information in accordance with the policies and practices described in this Privacy Statement. Your information will enable us to provide you with access to all parts of our Site and to supply our services, which include providing you with our newsletter, and to contact you where necessary. We will also use and analyse the information we collect so that we can administer, support, improve and develop our business, which may include contacting you to notify you of our current or future services.

In particular, we may use your information to contact you for your views on our services and to notify you occasionally about important changes or developments to the Site or our services. Further, where you have consented, we might also use your information to let you know about other services that we offer which may be of interest to you and we may contact you by post, telephone or fax, as well as by e-mail.

The information we collect from your usage of our site may be used to contact you by email through our Alchemy service where appropriate.

If you change your mind about being contacted in the future, please let us know.

SIRE reserves the right to retain information that you have requested be deleted where there is a legitimate legal reason why such information or should be retained by SIRE.

You agree that we may share your information with our affiliated companies.

DISCLOSURE OF YOUR INFORMATION

The information you provide to us will be held on computers solely owned by SIRE and its group companies.

Where your consent has been given your information will be shared with businesses looking to advertise on this Site. Your information may be accessed by or given to our staff working within and outside the Kingdom of Bahrain and third party companies whom we may use to provide part of our services and who may be located outside the Gulf Cooperation Council Area. We may also pass aggregate statistical information on the usage of our Site to third parties but this will not include information that can be used to identify you.

In no circumstances will we pass your information to third parties to enable them to contact you themselves about products and services that they offer without your prior consent.

We may disclose information if legally required to do so, if requested to do so by a governmental entity or if we believe in good faith that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to legal requirements or comply with legal process; (b) protect our rights or property or our affiliated companies; (c) prevent a crime or protect national security; or (d) protect the personal safety of users or the public.

Finally, if our business enters into a joint venture with or is sold to or merged with another business entity, your information may be disclosed to our new business partners or owners.

Countries outside the Kingdom of Bahrain do not always have strong data protection laws. However, we will always take steps to ensure that your information is used by our clients, agencies and brokers in accordance with this policy.

Unless required to do so by law, we will not otherwise share, sell or distribute any of the information you provide to us without your consent.

We have areas on the Site where you can submit feedback. Any feedback you submit in these areas becomes our property, and we can use such feedback (such as success stories) for marketing purposes or to contact you for further information.

ACCESS TO AND MODIFICATION OF YOUR INFORMATION

You may review, correct, update or change your account information at any time.

To change your account information, simply log into your account, click on the text link "Update", review your account information and, if you wish, edit it with the options provided. Click here to access your Star Account Profile page.

If you opted to receive newsletters, commercial e-mails or other communications from SIRE or third parties at the time you created a account, but subsequently changed your mind, you may opt-out by editing your Account Profile as described above. If you previously opted not to receive such communications, you may later opt-in by editing your SIRE Account Profile as well.

We retain indefinitely all the information we gather about you in an effort to make your repeat use of the Site more efficient, practical, and relevant

You are entitled to see the information held about you and you may ask us to make any necessary changes to ensure that it is accurate and kept up to date. If you wish to do this, please contact us. We are entitled by law to charge a fee of 5BD to meet our costs in providing you with details of the information we hold about you.

CHANGES TO OUR PRIVACY POLICY

Any changes to our privacy policy in the future will be posted to the site and, where appropriate, through e-mail notification.
